The Power of Words

"What did you do to him? What did you show Azurio?"

His complacent smile revealed everything, she realized. His influence had become her fear for what her champion was now capable of. Chaos, in its purest form. The unraveling of her makers' world. Utter destruction.

"Why, I showed him the truth. Does he not deserve that much?"

"The truth of what? What could he possibly see in your madness?"

The Lord of Dreams raised an eyebrow curiously as one finger calmly probed through his beard.

"Madness? I merely showed him the truth of the world, sister. Of what it is meant to be."

She stared at him, aghast of what he dared to do. No line such as this had ever been crossed much less ever thought capable of occuring. All her foresight and careful planning had now become hopeless. Each second that passed would slip through her fingers, tearing everything she had hoped to accomplish into shreds of futility.

"You thought him your champion? You believed he could be your second pawn after the first realized the truth of this world? No, dear sister. I would not allow you to repeat your mistake."

"Mistake? You've brought ruin to our fathers' world! This world was meant to be more then simply a sphere of life!"

"Then what was he meant to be, Calus? An ignorant soldier of a dying race heeding the word of a 'goddess' that cares simply for her one true people? How many lies can you bear?"

"My lies are their promise."

"A race built on ignorance, but one who will endure beyond us both. You know that."

"I will change-,"

"You will not change the inevitable. You cannot. That power is beyond us both. Where our strength fails, the power of words cannot. It took Arcos from you. And so, shall it take Azurio."

"No..."

"I've done to him what I did to the first. I showed him the truth of the world. And it broke him. Now watch, Calus. Watch as every deceitful dream you've ever created comes crashing down atop each beating heart within this miserable ceiling."
